A 12-day Salt Lake City circle linking all five Utah national parks with the darkest skies in America, ranger-led stargazing at Bryce Canyon, an astronomy tour in Zion and a finish in alpine Park City.

• •Day 1: Fly to Salt Lake City, collect your rental car and settle in. Overnight Salt Lake City.
• •Day 2: Salt Lake City, Temple Square, the Clark Planetarium, Red Butte Garden and the Natural History Museum of Utah. Overnight Salt Lake City.
• •Day 3: Salt Lake City to Green River, Antelope Island State Park for bison and lake views or Snowbird's tram to Hidden Peak, then the easy three-hour drive east. Overnight Green River.
• •Day 4: Arches National Park to Moab (approx. 50 miles), over 2,000 arches, the Delicate Arch hike from Wolfe Ranch, The Windows and the 18-mile scenic drive, with an optional 4x4 sunset tour. Overnight Moab.
• •Day 5: Canyonlands National Park (approx. 70 miles), Mesa Arch on Island in the Sky, the Needles District and Dead Horse Point State Park, with optional jet boat or rafting on the Colorado. Overnight Moab.
• •Day 6: Moab to Torrey (approx. 180 miles) via Goblin Valley State Park's hoodoos and the Goblins Lair, then Capitol Reef National Park, the Fremont petroglyphs and Gooseneck Overlook. Overnight Torrey.
• •Day 7: Torrey to Bryce Canyon on Scenic Byway 12 (approx. 80 miles), Homestead Overlook, Calf Creek Falls, Escalante, Powell Overlook and Kodachrome Basin, arriving for a ranger-led stargazing programme. Overnight Bryce Canyon City.
• •Day 8: Sunrise at Sunrise Point, the Queens Garden and Navajo Loop trails, then Zion National Park via the Zion, Mount Carmel Scenic Byway (approx. 80 miles). Overnight Springdale.
• •Day 9: Zion National Park, the canyon shuttle, Upper Emerald Pools, The Narrows or a cycle through the canyon, and an evening astronomy tour. Overnight Springdale.
• •Day 10: Zion to Park City (approx. 300 miles), a morning in the park or the Zion Canyon Hot Springs, then Historic Main Street for dinner. Overnight Park City.
• •Day 11: Park City, the alpine slide and mountain coaster at Park City Mountain, scenic chairlift at Deer Valley and an evening food and mining heritage tour. Overnight Park City.

• •Day 6: Canyonlands National Park (approx. 30 miles), Mesa Arch on Island in the Sky, the Needles District and Dead Horse Point State Park, with optional jet boat or rafting on the Colorado. Overnight Moab.
